Banquet slated for Saturday

The Apostolic Assembly of Jesus Christ will host its 11th annual Senior Sweetheart Banquet at 7 p.m. Saturday at the church fellowship hall. The event is open to all seniors. Honored guests will be welcomed at the door and escorted to their tables for the meal. Live music, door prizes, photos and individual Golden Hug Awards will be given.

Meeting scheduled for upcoming musical

For those interested in the planning of the community event, "Experiencing God," the musical, a meeting will be held Monday at the Love INC office in Kenai. For more information, call 283-5252.

Purim party planned

The Messianic Fellowship of Kenai will hold a Purim Party, the feast of Easter, March 2 at Sears Elementary School gym from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The party is free and guests are urged to come in costume. Donations will be accepted for local charities.

Help offered with finding family ties

Learn how to research your ancestors at a family history open house March 9 at 7 p.m. at 159 Marydale Ave. in Soldotna. Participants will get hands-on instruction with the computers in the cultural hall or in the family history library, take a tour of the library and see the many displays in the cultural hall. The event is open to the public and refreshments will be served. For more information, call Ann Haddox at 262-7940.

Spiritual poems sought

A $1,000 grand prize is being offered in a special religious poetry contest sponsored by New Jersey Rainbow Poets. There are 28 prizes in all totaling more than $3,000. The contest is free.

To enter, send one poem only of 21 lines or less to Religious Poetry Contest, PMB70, 103 N. Wood Ave., Linden, N.J. 07036, or enter on-line

The deadline for entering is April 20. Poems may be written on any subject, using any style, as long as there is a spiritual inference. A typical poem might be a love poem or nature poem, one that inspires. All entrants will receive a winner's list.
