Alaska State Troopers are treating a shooting in Happy Valley on Sunday evening as a homicide investigation.
Troopers responded to a 911 call at 6:11 p.m. reporting a shooting at a cabin on Greenfield Road.
Troopers from Homer responded and found Wayne Weeks, 54, had been fatally shot, allegedly by his roommate, Frank Crego, 71, according to a trooper statement. Both men are believed to have been drinking at the time of the shooting.
Alaska Bureau of Investigation Troopers from Soldotna served a search warrant at the residence, but details surrounding the shooting are still under investigation, troopers said.
Crego has not been arrested and no charges have been filed, according to Greg Wilkinson, trooper public information officer.
He said troopers are attempting to contact the victim's next of kin.
