Congratulations to the seventh- and eighth-grade IDEA Battle of the Books Team and to the fifth- and sixth-grade IDEA Battle of the Books Team for taking first place in the state competition. We are proud of these students for their achievement.

Jim Weiss, storyteller, will present workshops for parents and children on integrating storytelling across the curriculum and how to have fun telling stories. His workshops are Feb. 21 at Land's End in Homer and Feb. 22 at the Borough Building in Soldotna. Everyone is welcome to attend. Call 260 -7555 to RSVP. There is a fee for non-IDEA families.

Mark your calendars for the Scholastic Book Fair at the IDEA office on March 3 and 4. Call Janice at 260 -7555 for more information.

The math workshops concluded this week and were a big success. Parents went home with resources for integrating algebra making math meaningful and preparing for tests. The children worked on tanagrams, geobaords and tricky math problem-solving. Thanks to Steve Hackett and Janice Habermann.
