Nordic ski team competes at Birch Hill in Fairbanks this weekend.

The hockey banquet is 6 p.m. Wednesday in the library.

The student council, social studies classes and Soldotna Mayor, David Carey, hosted a fund-raiser Saturday in response to the earthquake and tsunami in Southeast Asia.

A bake sale was held to support the on going efforts of the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank; A quilt sale, thanks to seamstress Mrs. Wheeler, was held to support the work done by Hospice of the Central Peninsula; Red Cross of Alaska held a blood drive to assist those injured or ill; and a garage sale was conducted to assist the Rotary International Foundation and its work to provide safe and clean water supplies.

The activities capped a week-long series of events put on by the student council as part of Purple Pride Week. Thanks to Mrs. Lewis and the student council.

The following students were named February Students of the Month at Skyview High School: Rachel Beatty, Amanda Dallman, Cassy Dreifuerst, Justin Udelhoven, Chelsea Martin, April Whitaker, Kevin Culhane, Melissa Blake, Johnnie Dexheimer, Collette St. Claire, Michael Grimes, Candice West, Denali Pearson, Seth Waltemyer, Shantelle Lester and Kristy Lloyd.
