Wildfire protection to be discussed

The Community Wildfire Protection Plan meeting for the city of Kenai will be at 5:30 p.m. today at the Kenai City council chambers.

A meeting for the North Kenai area is at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the Nikiski Fire Department Station No. 2 in Nikiski.

Assessment survey celebration set

The Community Action Coalition will host a celebration at 4 p.m. Friday at the Challenger Learning Center of Alaska. The celebration is for faculty, school district, school board, parents, community members and Community Action Coalition members who made the Prevention Needs Assessment Survey possible. Childbirth classes available

A free film showing the Bradley method of husband-coached childbirth will be shown at 3 p.m. Saturday in Soldotna. For more information and location, call 260-2665.

Dinner, dance set to groove

The Moose Lodge No. 1542 will host a semiformal dance and buffet for members and invited guests at 7 p.m. Saturday at its lodge. Live music is planned. For more information, call 283-9181.

Pancake dinner ready to flip

The St. Francis by the Sea Episcopal Church will host at pancake supper fundraiser from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the church at 110 South Spruce St. in Kenai. The cost is $3 per person or $10 per family. Proceeds will benefit the Methodist Food Bank.

Spaghetti feed fundraiser slated

The Nikiski North Star Elementary and the Youth Restoration Corps will host a spaghetti feed fundraiser at 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Nikiski Middle-High School. The proceeds will befit the school’s fifth- and sixth-graders outdoor educational camp. For more information, prices or tickets call 776-5575.

Pesticide training planned

The Cooperative Extension Service office will hold a pesticide applicators training from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. March at its office on Kalifornsky Beach Road. For more information or to register, call 262-5824.

Foster care, adoption workshops available

Office of Children’s Services, offers the monthly Resource Family Orientations to give interested individuals a brief overview of the state’s foster care and adoption programs and process. For more information, call Holly or Allison at 283-3136.

Clothing donations sought

College Heights Baptist Church is accepting donations of clothing, appliances, household furniture and other household items for those who have lost their belongs due to the recent fires. Items may be dropped off from 8 to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at the church at 512 Ash Ave. in Kenai, or call 283-0712 or 283-3220 for pick-up of larger items.
