ANCHORAGE (AP) -- Ellie Claus of Chitina won the Jr. Iditarod Sunday, in a race dominated by the children of top Iditarod mushers.
Claus finished the 154-mile race in 11 hours, 24 minutes. She wins a $4,000 scholarship.
Second place went to Dallas Seavey of Seward, son of Iditarod musher Mitch Seavey. Dallas Seavey finished the race in 11 hours, 56 minutes.
In third place was Nikolai Buser, son of four-time Iditarod champion Martin Buser. Tessa King, daughter of three-time Iditarod champion Jeff King, finished in fourth place. Rounding out the top five was Max Kornmuller of Willow.
Eighteen mushers completed the race, which started and finished at Lake Louise, 100 miles northeast of Wasilla. Normally the race starts and finishes in Knik, but the race was moved this year due to poor trail conditions.
