drivers to watch: Jeff Gordon is the defending champ and has won three of the nine Cup races held at the track. He and teammate Jimmie Johnson, who grew up near the track in El Cajon, can be considered the favorites, especially after both posted top-five finishes last week at Daytona. Kurt Busch should also challenge. The defending series champ finished second at Daytona last week and does his best driving on flat ovals like Fontana.
