Swim lessons offered

Swim lesson sign-ups for the weeks following spring break are being taken at the Kenai Central High School Pool. Call 283-7476 to register.

Free seminar offered

The Small Business Development Center and the Kenai Convention and Visitors Bureau will sponsor a three-hour Tourism and Internet Marketing seminar Wednesday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Kenai Convention and Visitors Bureau. The seminar, which is free, will provide tools on local marketing resources and successful Internet marketing strategies. For more information, call 262-7497.

WRCC board to meet

The Women's Resource and Crisis Center will hold its monthly board meeting Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at the center on South Spruce Street in Kenai.

Students presented at luncheon

The Greater Soldotna Chamber of Commerce will hold its weekly luncheon at noon Tuesday at the Riverside House. Paul Gray, with Exploring Alaska, will be the guest speaker. Also, February students of the month from Skyview High, Soldotna High and Soldotna Middle schools will be presented.

Talent show planned in Nikiski

The annual Nikiski Talent Show will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Nikiski High School Auditorium. Talent of all ages will be presented. Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for students and seniors or $18 per family. All proceeds benefit the Nikiski High music program.

Forum held to discuss tobacco use

The Tobacco Control Alliance of the Peninsula will sponsor a Peninsula Wide Community Forum at 7 p.m. March 16 at Skyview High School. The forum will discuss issues relating to tobacco use and clean indoor air. The forum is open to the public.

ABC to conduct lottery

The Aurora Borealis Charter School will conduct an enrollment lottery April 10. The lottery determines the 2001-02 school year placement of students currently on the waiting list.

Applications and copies of the enrollment and lottery procedures are available at the school office from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.

All applications must be delivered in person to the school office no later than 4 p.m. March 16. The lottery results will be posted at the school office on April 16.

SPCA warns of possible horse lice

The Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of the Kenai Peninsula Inc. would like all horse owners to be aware that if a horse is scratching, rubbing, shows hair loss or biting there is a good possibility it is from lice. The problem is not limited to spring and summer, it sometimes is encountered this time of year as well. There have been four verified cases on the peninsula.

If owners notice any of these signs listed above, contact Dr. Jerry Nybakken at 260-5850 or the SPCA at 262-8800.

Kenai, Soldotna class of 1981 reunion

Graduates are being sought from the Kenai/Soldotna class of 1981 for the class reunion. Volunteers are needed to help plan. The next meeting is Saturday at noon at Paradisos.
