Firefighters respond to Kenai airport alarm

Posted: Tuesday, February 25, 2003

A smoke detector alarm at the Kenai Municipal Airport on Monday afternoon brought a quick response from the Kenai Fire Department.

No fire was found, however.

"A baggage cart may have been parked under the smoke detector too long and may have set it off," said Assistant Chief Michael Tilly.

Fire responders did a quick walk-through of the passenger terminal as a precaution. The terminal was not evacuated and air traffic was not interrupted as a result of the 1:10 p.m. incident.
