Sen. Lisa Murkowski is accepting applications for her summer intern program. Graduating high school seniors are eligible to apply. There are 20 available positions. Interns will perform a variety of administrative and legislative duties, shadow the senator during her daily schedule and participate in tours and social events.
Interns will be housed in the dorms of George Washington University in northwest Washington, D.C., a short subway ride from the office. Dates for sessions are May 29 to June 26 and July 3 to 31.
The deadline for applications is April 1. Successful applicants will be notified by May 1. Due to increased security screening of Senate mail, general mail delivery has been slowed significantly and applicants are encouraged to fax a copy of their application, in addition to mailing it. Send completed applications to Sen. Lisa Murkowski, Attn: Intern Coordinators, 322 Hart Senate Office Building, Washington, D.C., 20510-0203. Applications are available from area high school counselors, any of the senator's offices or online at www.murkowski.senate.gov/internship.html. For more information about the program, call Bekki Johannes or Ivette Fernandez at (202) 224-6665.
