Good day to all of my Nikiski neighbors. I hope you are enjoying warmer weather. Please watch for slippery side roads, parking lots and driveways around town.

Blood pressure checks will be held at 11:30 a.m. today at the Nikiski Senior Citizens Center.

Weight Watchers will be held at 4 p.m. today at Nikiski North Star Elementary School. Call Sharon at 262-7534 for more information.

Adult dodge ball registration begins today at Nikiski Community Recreation Center. Teams must have eight players and can be co-ed. Participants must be at least 17. The cost is $25 per participant. For more information, call Tammy at 776-8800.

Semi-private swim lessons will be held Tuesday through Thursday at the Nikiski pool today through March 7. Open registration for the lessons will be held through today. The cost is $50 per student. For more information, call Nigel at 776-8800.

The Nikiski North Star Elementary PTA will hold a family night from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the school gym.

Mrs. Matson's fifth-grade class at Nikiski North Star Elementary will sell cinnamon rolls Wednesday and Thursday at the school. Cinnamon rolls will be sold, with or without walnuts, for $2 each and can be sent home with school children, picked up or delivered to generally known locations. A game night will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at the senior center.

The Redoubt Church will feature blue grass gospel music after 6:30 p.m. Sundays. Everyone interested is encouraged to bring their instruments and voices.

The Nikiski Middle School Battle of the Books team won the state competition Feb. 19. Daniel Ribbens, Josh Croze, Annaleah Ernst and Jesse Ross, are seventh-graders and have been reading and preparing for the competition since the beginning of the school year.

Battle of the books is a statewide reading incentive program to promote the love of reading.
