Seward girls storm back to defeat Grace

The Grizzlies may have won the first quarter, but the Seahawks won the game 68-53.

Although down by one after eight minutes, Seward stormed back to outscore the Grizzlies 20-14 in the second and 19-7 in the third.

The host Seahawks handed the Lions their second District 3/3A loss Friday by connecting on nine 3-point field goals.

Ryan Lewis led the barrage with four treys, and finished with a game-high 22 points. Brian Blankenship tossed in three trifectas and had 14 points, while Clint Draper added 12 for Seward (6-3, 8-7).

Sheena Cundiff poured in 25 points, including three 3-pointers, as the host Mariners picked up the Region III/4A victory.

Kodiak led 17-8 after the first eight minutes, but would only score 18 points the rest of the game.

After the game, Homer sat at 4-5 in the region and 8-9 overall, while Kodiak fell to 2-7 and 5-15.

Nick Billings, a 6-foot-10 senior, dropped 20 points in on the Mariners Friday night in the Region III/4A contest.

The Bears moved their record to 6-3 in the region and 12-5 overall, while Homer dropped to 4-5 and 10-9.

Sean Haynes poured in 23 points for the Mariners, while Richie Crum added 12.

For Kodiak, Thomas Kreta (12 points), Geoffrey Agmata (11 points) and Godfrey Agmata (10 points) also made it into double digits.
