ANCHORAGE (AP) -- A man from the village of Crooked Creek, missing on a snowmachine trip, has been found safe.
Norman Macar, 30, left Crooked Creek on Monday, headed for Bethel. He was traveling by snowmachine on the Kuskokwim River.
He was reported missing on Tuesday, when he failed to check in with his wife. Volunteers from Aniak, Kalskag and Tuluksak launched a search.
Macar was spotted by the Civil Air Patrol at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday night walking along the Kuskokwim River, about 10 miles west of Crooked Creek.
Macar told troopers his snowmachine broke down. He started walking and spent Monday and Tuesday night in empty cabins. Troopers say Macar was in good condition.
