Garnet, Robertia claim titles at PSDRA races
Jill Garnet won three races and Colleen Robertia captured one at the Peninsula Sled Dog and Racing Association 10-dog classic sled dog and skijor races on Saturday and Sunday at the PSDRA trails near the Soldotna Airport.
Garnet won the two-dog, 4.5-mile skijor competition, the four-dog, four-mile race and the six-dog, six-mile race, while Robertia won the 10-dog, 10-mile race.
In the two-dog competition, Garnet finished in 37 minutes, seven seconds, just ahead of Michael Moerlein (38:19). She then raced to victory in the four-dog race in 29:42, ahead of Neil Strausbaugh (28:19) and Amelia McDonnell (34:34).
In the six-dog trek, Garnet crossed in 59:51, ahead of Travis Beals (1:00:03), Will Morrow (1:04:23) and Laurie Cramer (1:09:43).
Robertia easily won the 10-dog competition in 1:21:22, ahead of Rick Tarpy (1:27:37) and Ashley Irmen (1:46:51).
CIA boys top Lumen Christi
The Cook Inlet Academy boys basketball team notched a 52-35 Peninsula Conference victory over Lumen Christi on Tuesday in Anchorage.
For the Eagles, Scott Litchfield had 14 points, Shane Moffis had 12, Aaron Rowley had nine, Eric Bell had six, Robbie Smithwick had five, Ryan Doyle had four and Josh Holly had two. Seth Bakic paced Lumen with 10 points.
Homer-Kodiak game times change
The game times for the Kodiak-Homer basketball games have changed. The girls will play on Friday and Saturday in Homer. On Friday, junior varsity will be at 5 p.m. and varsity will be at 6:30 p.m. On Saturday, junior varsity will be at 3 p.m. and varsity will be at 4:30 p.m.
The boys will play in Kodiak. On Friday, junior varsity will be at 6 p.m. and varsity will be at 7:30 p.m. On Saturday, junior varsity will be at 4 p.m. and varsity will be at 5:30 p.m.
Soldotna-Skyview to play Thursday
The Soldotna-Skyview basketball games will be Thursday at Skyview. There was a mistake in the Tuesday Clarion sports section regarding the day of the games. The girls varsity will be at 6 p.m. while the boys varsity will be at 7:30 p.m.
