Key Coalition rallies

Posted: Sunday, February 27, 2011

The Key Coalition of Alaska, Kenai Chapter held its annual rally on the corner of the Spur Highway and Bridge Access, in conjunction with other rallies were being held in Juneau, Anchorage, Homer, Mat-Su, Fairbanks and other smaller communities throughout our state. The Key Coalition is a statewide organization formed over 24 years ago to help lobby and inform lawmakers and others of the importance of services for people who experience a disability. The platforms this year that are important to people are: For our State to recognize and continue to reduce the waitlist; To support the rates that agencies are paid to conduct business, which has been overlooked for many years; Support to families and people that experience Autism and help with early interventions to help out families; To reduce the waitlist for babies that are a part of the Infant Learning Program.

Next year will be the 25th year for the Key Coalition and the organization would like to see more members of the community become involved! If you have questions regarding the Statewide Key Coalition you may contact any Board member or the Hope Community Resources office in Soldotna.
