Nikiski resident Wayne A. Harris died Feb. 21, 2002, at Central Peninsula General Hospital in Soldotna. He was 85.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Mr. Harris was born Jan. 24, 1917, in Bonners Ferry, Idaho. He worked in construction in Washington, Oregon and California and retired from the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 701. He moved to Nikiski in 1990.
Mr. Harris was a member of the E Clampus Vitus Humbug Chapter 73. His hobbies and special interests included locksmithing and working with clocks. He made his living operating large equipment, but loved working on the small, intricate details of locks and clocks, especially antiques.
His family said, "He was loved and admired by all his family and friends and will be greatly missed."
Mr. Harris was preceded in death by a sister, Thelma McConnell, and brother, Howard Lake.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Kathy
Harris; daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and David Casson; grandchildren Cody Casson, Amanda Harris and Corie Harris of Yreka, Calif.; sisters and brother-in-law Lee Shaw of Spokane, Wash., Bertha Lake of Grayland, Wash. and Veva and Bill Graef of Paradise, Calif.; brothers Horace "Ace" Harris of Benton City, Wash. and Harold Lake of Moon Lake, Wash.; nephews John Stolz and his wife Judy, Tim Stolz and Phillip Stolz; and nieces Sandy Jones, Linda Superman and her husband, Gary, of Nikiski and Sharon Lamm of Salem, Ore.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the charity of choice.
