Soroptimist International of the Twin Cities will present its ninth annual Young Women's Confer-ence from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Solid Rock Conference Center.
The theme of this year's conference is "Inside Out."
"Image seems to be everything in today's world. At the Young Wo-men's Conference 2004, we will turn things 'inside out' by learning all about the beautiful person inside and how what is inside determines how gorgeous a person you are outside," conference organizers said in a press release.
The goal of the event is "to create a fun, fast-paced and informative day to help young women in grades six through eight make wise choices as they grow up," organizers said.
The conference will include programs on choices: social choices, image choices and health choices.
Marge Hays, Heidi Chay and Chris Gehrett will present information on personality, conflict resolution and peer mediation. Miranda Zindel will present the "3 Cs" charm, carriage and character.
Gottschalks will offer a fashion show. Representatives from Clin-ique and Mary Kay Cosmetics will teach skin care and color analysis.
Conference-goers also will enjoy kickboxing with Canetta Salmon.
The conference will offer information related to relationships, nutrition, values, peer influences and self-esteem. Health information for teens from the American Cancer Society also will be included.
Other special features include skits, awards, attendance prizes, a grand prize and conference memento. The 2004 Alaska Junior Miss, Kaitlin Vadla, a senior at Soldotna High School, will be a special guest.
Registration forms are available at all schools with a sixth, seventh or eighth grade. Preregistrations can be phoned in to Paula Rohloff at 260-4917.
