Season Silba, prepares for the grand re-opening of her Kids Korner in Soldotna.
Keeping your kids in clothes is a daunting task of parenting regardless of how much money or relatives you have. So many times before a child grows into its baby shower gifts Mom or Dad has forgotten where they stored them until they have become too small. That task and the expense of clothing children is what prompted Season Silba to start a previously owned children's clothing store about six years ago. "We closed down for awhile, but due to popular demand we are back in the same location and I am very excited to be open again," said Silba. The Kids Korner is located in Soldotna next door to the Music Box and is a special place for kid's sizes zero up size 7. "Our goal is to clean and wash each of our items. We double check them for spots and tears and make sure our toys all have working batteries. We try our best to be sure our items are clean and like new and most importantly priced mostly under $6.00 dollars," explained Season.
The Kids Korner is not a consignment or trade store, "We buy all of our items through our own resources. We do have a drop box outside the front door for folks who want to support the Kids Korner so we can in turn provide the community with a clean low priced place to shop, but we are not a non-profit organization and do not give receipts for contributions. If we don't use an item, we will donate it to several good causes in the area," added Silba. Season says she loves having a place where it is fun for kids as well as their parents to come and shop, "So many times parents have to tell there kids don't touch that, don't touch that, but at the Kids Korner it's really okay, we have toys and stuff in here for kids to have fun with and we love having them in here, I like working with the customers and I love seeing the kids, we have great customers," said Season. Many of her former customers have been returning after she thought their children had grown up, but now they have new little ones.
While the Kids Korner has been open for the last few months, Silba says she is building up her inventory for a big grand re-opening that she hopes to be announcing in the near future. For more information call Season Silba at 262-8508.
