Hi, neighbors.

Attention Ninilchik young women: Soroptimist International is the world's largest service organization for business, executive and professional women. One of its purposes is to train young girls and women and encourage them to be assets to their communities. With that in view, the Kenai Peninsula chapter is presenting its Young Women's Conference "The Sky's The Limit," Saturday at Solid Rock Camp for girls in grades sixth through eighth from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and for girls in grades nine through 12 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Preregistration is required and forms are available at the Ninilchik School. Scholarships also are available for the $10 registration fee. There will be several special guest speakers. For more information, or to register, call Paula Rohloff at 260-4917 or Annie Berge at 262-6133.

Because state parks are an integral part of Ninilchik, some of you may be interested in advising Alaska State Park managers on issues relating to state parks and outdoor recreation management. If so, you are invited to apply for membership on the Southern Kenai Peninsula State Parks Citizens Advisory Board.

To be considered for appointment, applicants must live or work in the Ninilchik or Anchor Point area.

Appointed members meet five times a year between August and April and serve a three-year term. To apply, please submit a completed application, resume and short letter describing the reasons for wanting to serve on the board. Applications are due at the Kenai Area State Parks Office by Friday.

Applications may be obtained at the Kenai Area State Parks Office or online at www.dnr.

For more information please contact District Ranger Jack Blackwell at 262-5581 or District Ranger Roger MacCampbell at 235-7024.

Ninilchik Community Forum has a full agenda of things to discuss and deal with in its next meeting. March 10 has been proposed as a possible date.

If you are interested in being involved and want to be informed of meeting dates and times, e-mail Mike Schuster at meanderin@ The more members of the community that can be involved, the more effective the forum will be.

Ninilchik will hold its 19th annual Ducks Unlimited dinner and auction at Inlet View Restaurant on Saturday. Doors will open at 5 p.m. with dinner served at 7 p.m. As well as the dinner and auction, there will be raffles and door prizes. Tickets are limited to 100 and are available at the Ninilchik General Store for $50 for singles or $75 for couples. Ducks Unlimited is an organization that promotes the conservation of wetlands.

For more information call Nancy Webb at 567-1016 or Chris Calabrese at 567-1032.
