KETCHIKAN (AP) -- A 41-year-old Ketchikan was killed in a vehicle accident Thursday night on the South Tongass Highway, Alaska State Troopers said.
Scott Richard Arndt was southbound on the highway when he apparently struck a guardrail and then crossed the centerline, striking a van in the northbound lane, troopers said.
Arndt was taken to Ketchikan General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly before 11 p.m. The driver of the van was treated for minor injuries and released.
Troopers said Arndt was not wearing a seatbelt. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor.
