Area housing market points toward stability

In Kenai the average residential sales price was $111,138. and in Soldotna it was $113,076.

Houses were on the market for an average of 161 and 166 days in Kenai and Soldotna respectively.

In Kenai and Soldotna during 2000, 111 homes were sold -- 68 in Kenai and 43 in Soldotna.

During 2000, there were 24,871 housing units in the borough with 18,438 occupied and 6,433 vacant. Of the vacant units, 4,560 are seasonal, recreational or for occasional use. The homeowner vacancy rate is 2.9 percent, while the rental vacancy rate is 14.4 percent.
