Contract resolution what's best for kids

Posted: Sunday, March 02, 2003

It's the best news we've heard in a long time: After more than a year of negotiations, the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District and the unions representing teachers and support staff have reached an agreement.

The agreement still must be ratified by the unions members, but we're hopeful that will happen.

We congratulate all the members of the bargaining teams for accomplishing this difficult task without arbitration and without a strike.

That an agreement was reached indicates all sides have as their top priority the education of Kenai Peninsula students.

Our thanks to all those involved in the negotiation process. You accomplished what at times seemed like an impossible mission. Great job!
