Dr. Seuss birthday celebration set for today

The Boys and Girls Club in Kenai will celebrate Read Across America and the late Dr. Seuss' 100th birthday from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. today at the club. Planned activities will include readers theater, puppet-making workshop, a reader oath, family bingo with prizes and books, face painting, crazy hair and birthday cake. There is no fee. Senior service board meeting slated

The Nikiski Senior Service Area board meeting will be held at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Nikiski Senior Citizens Center. The public is invited to attend. For more information, call Leigh at 776-7654.

Nikiski senior parents to meet

The Nikiski Middle-Senior High School parents of seniors will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the school library. The topic of discussions will be the after-graduation party. All senior parents are encouraged to attend. For more information, call Pam Russell at 776-8602.

HEA nomination deadline looming

The nomination-petition deadline for members seeking candidacy in the Homer Electric Association's 2004 board of directors election is 5 p.m. Friday in the Homer office. To qualify, candidates must be an active member of the cooperative and demonstrate residence status.

Charter school to hold enrollment lottery

The Aurora Borealis Charter School will conduct an enrollment lottery April 14. Applications and copies of the enrollment and lottery procedures are available at the ABCS office from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. All applications must be delivered in person to the office no later than 3 p.m. March 10. Lottery results will be posted at ABCS on April 22.

If your child has a lottery number, you do not need to go through the process again. Parents with a lottery number who no longer want to be on the waiting list are asked to call the office.

Village Fair seeking vendors, volunteers

Healthy Communities-Healthy People is looking for vendors and volunteers to participate in the ninth annual Village Fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 13 at Soldotna High School.
