The school welcomes new students Treava Schmitter and Miranda Fletcher.

The preschoolers have been making alphabet books as they learn the letters J, K and L.

They sharpened counting skills while counting and eating M and M's. They are learning about the death of Jesus Christ in the Bible lesson. The preschoolers team up with the kindergartners for music class today.

The Upper Grade room children are going bowling twice a week, after studying techniques and score keeping at school. In U.S. history, the seventh- and eighth-graders are studying the founding of the New England colonies. They are reading the Revolutionary War novel, "My Brother Sam is Dead." The fourth- through sixth-graders are studying physics.

Students in the fourth through sixth grades are preparing to participate in the Battle of the Books sponsored by the Soldotna home-school group. Thanks goes to Janice Habermann for the encouragement and coaching.

Thanks also to Jane Dorman for sewing polar fleece hats for the school. The kids wear them as they play on the new giant snow pile near the parking lot.
