This is Love of Reading week. Thanks to visitors from the community who have read with students this week.

Thursday is Read Around Night. Families are invited to come to watch children perform a story. Corey Hall will present Ready to Learn. Friday is Read with a Friend day.

Kindergarten classes took a break from winter and went to the beach. Students created artwork to provide the scenery that turned the classrooms into beaches for a day. As students had their day in the sun (turned up heaters and overhead projectors) the magical sound of waves splashing on the beach (kiddie pools and tarps) could be heard with the sound of children donned in swimsuits discovering conservation theories, counting to keep score of games, reading recipes to make snacks, keeping track of time and problem solving as they worked with friends.

Ms. Ralston's first-graders worked on the sound unit. They went for a listening walk where they discovered sounds that come from nature and sounds that are man made. If you play a musical instrument and would like to share your interest with the students, call Ms. Ralston at 283-4826 to set up a time.
