ACS girls finish with perfect conference record

The Anchorage Christian Schools girls basketball team completed an undefeated regular season in the Southcentral Conference on Saturday with a 48-28 victory over Seward in Anchorage.

Debbiey Simmers had 10 points to lead the Lions, while Aubrey Stone paced Seward with 12 points.

ACS boys 48, Seward 47

Chad Dyson had 17 points as the Lions edged the Seahawks on Saturday in Southcentral Conference play.

Travis Price paced Seward with 15 points, while Dylan Beck and Robert Perea had 11 apiece.

ACS girls 54, Nikiski 27

The Lions received 18 points from Anna Simmers and 15 from Chelsea Dyson on Friday in rolling to a Southcentral Conference victory over the visiting Bulldogs.

Rachel Romans paced Nikiski with 10 points.

ACS boys 83, Nikiski 43

Chad Dyson poured in 20 points as the Lions notched a Southcentral Conference victory on Friday over the visiting Bulldogs.

Sheridan Olson had 13 points for Nikiski, while Evan Holloway pitched in with 11.

Kodiak girls 49, Homer 30

Alysa Horn had 15 points and Betsie McCarty added 12 on Friday as the visiting Bears picked up a Northern Lights Conference victory over the Mariners.

Kodiak finishes with a 3-7 record in the NLC and will be the No. 4 seed out of the Northern Division at the conference tournament starting Thursday. The Mariners finished 2-8 in the league and will be the No. 3 seed from the Southern Division.

Deanna Weaver paced Homer with 15 points.

Kodiak boys 61, Homer 42

The Bears wrapped up the No. 3 seed out of the Northern Division by defeating the Mariners, who finished 1-9 in league play.

Kodiak jumped out to a 34-18 lead at halftime in the game.

CIA girls 43, Seldovia 33

The host Eagles topped the Sea Otters in Peninsula Conference play on Friday.

Amie Smithwick had 13 points for CIA, while Holly Kopp pitched in with 10. For the Sea Otters, Katie O'Leary had 12 points and Courtney Collier added 10 points.

CIA boys 63, Seldovia 48

Shane Moffis hit for 22 points on Friday as the host Eagles defeated the Sea Otters in Peninsula Conference play.

CIA led 28-25 at the half, then pulled away with a 21-6 third quarter. Scott Litchfield added 15 for the Eagles, while Eric Bell pitched in with 11. For Seldovia, Griffin Swick had a game-high 22 points while Levi Harkness added 10 points.

CIA boys 65, Lumen 44

The Eagles wrapped up their regular season on Saturday with a victory over the visiting Archangels.

Aaron Rowley had 17 points for the Eagles, while Scott Litchfield added 10. For Lumen Christi, Eli Portell had 17 points.

Kodiak girls 41, Homer 38

The Bears held off the Mariners to pick up a nonconference victory on Saturday in Homer.

Kodiak entered the fourth quarter with a 32-23 lead, but the Mariners scored 15 points in the fourth quarter to nearly catch the Bears. Jessie Keplinger had 13 points for Kodiak, while Alysa Horn had 12 points and Rachel Norton had 10 points. For Homer, Piper Daugharty and Reba Temple each had 11 points.

Kodiak boys 57, Homer 45

The host Bears pulled away in the fourth quarter for a nonconference victory.

Homer trailed 25-20 at halftime, but the Mariners scored the first eight points of the second half, with Michael Pate scoring six of those points. Kodiak answered with an 18-6 run.
