SEWARD (AP) -- Members of the Seward High School cross-country ski team and their coaches had a day named in their honor for helping to rescue a family of five children and their mother.
The family was trapped when their minivan overturned on the Seward Highway last month.
Seward Mayor Edgar Blatchford declared Feb. 28 ''Seward Ski Team Appreciation Day'' to demonstrate how the community appreciated the good deed done by the team.
A 4-year-old girl died five days after the wreck. All of the others, including an 8-year-old with a broken arm, were expected to recover.
