Young hockey players peer through the protective screen at the Kenai Multi-Purpose Facility as Rick Baldwin, left, and his crew take time out from installing benches and coat hooks in the two warm-up huts they built. Also pictured are Earl Hicks, Becky Cronkhite, Nelson Amen, Jim Hampton and George Ford. The Rotary Club of Kenai, the city of Kenai and several other volunteers collaborated on the project, initiated by Baldwin. Team members spent about 10 evenings and Saturdays working on the new warm-up huts. The city furnished materials, and Hicks, of the Kenai Municipal Airport maintenance facility, organized and guided most of the work. Several members of the Kenai Central High School senior class also volunteered, as did current and former Kardinal hockey players and DR Ice, the company that maintains the ice rink.
