The preschool classes made homemade fishing poles for an ice fishing adventure at Scout Lake. Many students caught fish and cooked their prize catch for dinner. The class thanks the Millers for hosting the outing.

The second-graders held a pancake festival in celebration of National Pancake Week during chapel. The staff would like to thank the class for providing pancakes and pancake stories for all in attendance.

The fifth-graders have begun a chess-checkers-mancala tournament that will continue through the third quarter. Students must participate in at least two games and have no incompletes on their weekly report cards in order to be eligible for the three grand prizes.

The fourth-, fifth- and sixth-graders will perform an Orff music concert at 7 p.m. Monday at the school.

The staff would like to congratulate Nathan Byrd and James Libert, who are representing the state in the junior basketball competition at the Arctic Winter Games being held in Alberta, Canada.

The varsity basketball team have a home game against Ninilchik on Friday and an away game against Homer Christian on Saturday. Senior night is March 12 against Seldovia.

Students of the Week are the preschool, for being great ice fishers, Richele McGahan, Amber Hamar, Timmy Smithwick, Kendra Brush, Ryan Kimball, Andrew Barlow, Elizabeth Dailey, David Burger, Tiffany Smith, Reed McConnell, Nathan Byrd and Scott Litchfield.

The history fair is March 15.

Spring break is March 22 through 26.
