Kards girls fail to rally against rampaging Moose

The Palmer girls basketball team handed Kenai its second loss of the season Friday in Palmer in Region III/4A play.

Palmer took a 40-27 lead after three periods and held on as Kenai tried to rally in the fourth quarter. Sara Bergeron pumped in 11 points for the Moose, while Tami Callison and Lisa Thomas added 10 points apiece.

Kenai's Erica Shinn grabbed game-high scoring honors with 14 points, while Karli Knudsen pitched in with 13.

CJ Hooker poured in a game-high 30 points Friday as the host Moose defeated the Kardinals 91-61 in Region III/4A play.

Zac Forsyth and Zach Pettit added 15 points apiece for Palmer, while Keith Perkins pitched in 10.

For the Kardinals, Ian Foley booked three 3-pointers en route to 11 points, while Marcus Webster pitched in 10.

Kelly Quinn and McKenzy Menard added 10 apiece for Colony, while Hillary Zobeck had 11 points and Greta Besse had 10 points for Soldotna.

The Stars put three players in double figures Friday as they picked up a big Region III/4A road victory.

Shaun Williams paced Soldotna with 14 points, while Mike Metteer bagged four 3-pointers on his way to 13 points and Aaron Hughes pitched in with 12 points.

For Colony, Jon Elliot had 16 points and Josh Williams had 13.

Geoffrey Agmata racked up four 3-pointers en route to a game-high 28 points for the Bears, while 6-foot-11 big man Nick Billings dropped in 19 points.

Corey Boone paced Homer with 10 points.
