ANCHORAGE (AP) -- A 101-foot crab boat and a freighter, estimated to be about 500 feet long, collided near Akun Island in the Bering Sea early Monday, the U.S. Coast Guard said.

No injuries were reported, but the collision crushed a 15-foot section of the crabber's bow. The damage to the freighter was unknown as the ship never stopped.

The Kodiak-based crabber, The Katrina Em, was able to sail to Dutch Harbor safely despite the damage.

The Coast Guard used aircraft to search for the freighter, which was believed to be traveling west.
