Deadline for HEA nominations today

Nominations for Homer Electric Association's board of directors election will be accepted through 5 p.m. today. Any HEA member interested in seeking a seat on the board must submit a petition with the signatures of at least 15 HEA members receiving electric service in the district the candidate represents. Petition forms are available at the Kenai or Homer offices. For more information, call Joe Gallagher at 283-2324.

Grandparent support group to meet

The Grandparent Support Group will meet for a brown bag lunch from 12:30 to 2 p.m. today in the Solarium room at the Kenai Senior Citizens Center. This group is for grandparents raising grandkids and any "second-time-around" parents. For more information, call Margie McCord at 262-9709.

Restorative justice to be discussed

The Center for Mediation and Community Dialogue will hold its First Friday Dialogue meeting at 7:30 p.m. today in the Kenai Peninsula College commons. The topic will be restorative justice. A potluck dinner will precede the meeting at 6:30 p.m. The public is invited to attend.

The purpose of the First Friday Dialogues is to bring people in the community together in a safe forum for listening, speaking and learning. For more information, call Chris Gehrett at 262-0367.

Dance concert set

Nikiski Middle-Senior High School will hold its annual dance concert at 7 p.m. today and Saturday at the school auditorium and at 7 p.m. March 11 and 12 at the Renee C. Henderson Auditorium at Kenai Central High School. Tickets will be available at the door.

Boot camp slated

The Alaska Young Marines will hold a boot camp at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Soldotna Elks Lodge. For more information, call Carol Lasky at 260-3857 or 776-6508.

AWG to host auction fund-raiser

The Arctic Winter Games committee will host a One Year Out Celebration and auction at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Soldotna Sports Center. Dinner begins at 7 p.m. and the live auction at 8.

Live music, silent and live auctions, dinner and the debut of the original theme song for the 2006 Games are some of the planned activities.

The cost is $40 per person. Tickets are available at the Arctic Winter Games office in the Peninsula Center Mall in Soldotna.

Historical society to meet

The Kenai Historical Society will meet at 1 p.m. Sunday at the United Methodist Church of the New Covenant. Margaret Menting will show pictures and relate her experiences from a recent trip to the Philippine Islands. It is open to the public.

Birding club to meet
