CIA girls, boys reach title games

The Cook Inlet Academy boys and girls basketball teams earned victories over host Bristol Bay on Thursday to advance to their respective championship games at the Peninsula Conference tournament.

The CIA boys, seeded No. 2, defeated the No. 3 Angels 51-50 and face Lumen Christi in a winner-to-state game at 7 p.m. today. The top-seeded CIA girls rolled to a 66-37 victory and square off against No. 2 Seldovia at 8:45 p.m. today.

In other boys action, No. 1 Lumen Christi edged No. 4 Ninilchik 47-41. The Wolverines face No. 6 Nanwalek in a loser-out contest at 10 a.m. today. No. 5 Nikolaevsk faces a loser-out situation against Bristol Bay at 1:30 p.m. today.

In other girls action, Seldovia edged No. 3 Nikolaevsk 45-38. With the loss, the Warriors fall to a loser-out game against No. 4 Ninilchik at 5:15 p.m. Friday.

Two teams advance to the Class 2A state tournament in both boys and girls action.
