Community Schools

This listing of Soldotna Community School classes beginning this week serves as a reminder for preregistered participants. Most classes require preregistration and prepayment. If you did NOT preregister, please call the Soldotna Community School office, at 262-6768, to check on cancellations and confirm your attendance. Details about each class can be found in the Spring 1999 Soldotna Community School brochure, which is available at Soldotna and Kenai public libraries, the city of Soldotna and the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District.


Financial strategies for successful retirement: Taught by Bob Wrentmore of Shilanski and Associates; held at Soldotna Middle School room 9 at 6 p.m. for four sessions. Basic investment, introduction to stocks, bonds, mutual funds, risk management and estate planning. Preregistration for singles or couples is $50, walk-in for single or couple is $70.


Custom Rod Building: Taught by George McDowell of Mac's Rod Shop at Soldotna Middle School room 6 at 7 p.m. Novice or experienced rod builders welcome. Rod prices vary from $68 to $210 (no halibut rods).

Additional classes will be held April 14 and 21. The class is for those 12 and older, with a 10-person maximum, Cost is $20, plus materials.
