The Ninilchik girls basketball team defeated Seldovia 35-31 on Thursday at Kenai Central High School to advance to the Peninsula Conference championship game.

Today at 6 p.m., the Wolverines will face off with Cook Inlet Academy for the title. In last year's championship game, Ninilchik defeated the Eagles 41-37. It was Ninilchik's 15th conference title in the past 18 years.

Seldovia and Ninilchik had split during the regular season, with each team winning on its home floor. The Wolverines grabbed a 13-7 lead after one quarter, but Seldovia cut the lead to 20-17 at halftime. The lead stayed 27-24 after three quarters, then the Wolverines were able to hold off the Sea Otters in the fourth quarter.

Seldovia is still alive for a state berth. The Sea Otters face Nikolaevsk today at 2:30 p.m. in the second-place quarterfinals.
