Fairbanks massage therapist found guilty of sexual assault

FAIRBANKS (AP) -- A Fairbanks massage therapist accused of inappropriately touching three clients in Barrow has been found guilty of six counts of second-degree sexual assault.

Andy Noel Ritter, 43, was found guilty in a Barrow court Friday.

The charges against Ritter date from 1997 when he owned Healing Arts Massage in Fairbanks and also traveled to Barrow one weekend a month. The incidents occurred prior to April 1997 in Ritter's Barrow office.

Ritter was indicted on the six counts on May 22, 1997, and was found guilty of all of them on Friday. He was taken into custody at the North Slope Borough Correctional Facility after the verdict was read.

Ritter is scheduled for sentencing May 20.

Second-degree sexual assault is a felony punishable by up to 10 years in prison and a $50,000 fine.
