Kenai chamber meets today

Scott Norman will discuss high-impact, low-cost marketing strategies at the Kenai Chamber of Commerce weekly luncheon at noon today at Paradisos Restaurant. For more information, call the chamber at 283-7989.

KCHS to present student-directed comedy

The KCHS drama department will present "Mixed Nuts," a comedy directed by KCHS student Lauren Brewer at 3 p.m. Thursday through Saturday in the Rene Henderson Auditorium. Admission is free.

Education association to hold rally

The Kenai Peninsula Education Association will host "Stand up for Schools," an informal rally, Saturday from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Kenai Peninsula Borough Building in Soldotna. The purpose of the rally is to inform the public on the progress of bargaining with school district support staff and teachers. Free hot dogs and soda will be provided.

Fund-raising dinner to aid family

The friends of Greg and Georgina Braun will host a fund-raising dinner Saturday from 4 until 8 p.m. at the Kenai Elks Lodge. Dinner will include barbecued ribs and all the trimmings. Cost is $10 per plate.

There will be balloon prizes, raffles and family fun. All proceeds go toward unforeseen medical expenses for Kyle Frederick Braun, born Jan. 30. For more information, call Lynette at 335-0123.

CPR class offered

March is National Red Cross Month. The Red Cross will be offering a CPR and First Aid class March 16 from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m.

Veterans organization to hold elections

The Kenai Peninsula chapter of the Military Order of the Purple Heart will hold its next meeting at 7 p.m. March 21 at VFW Post 10046 in Soldotna.

Bake sale planned

The Nikiski Senior Center will hold its annual Spring Bazaar and Bake Sale April 4, 5 and 6. Tables are available for rent for $10 a day.

Benefit dinner and auction planned

A benefit "Gourmet Burger Bash" for Tommy Ellison will be held at 6 p.m. April 5 at the Peninsula Grace Bretheren Church. There will be an auction, door prizes and a raffle. Prizes include a 2002 Ski-Doo Summit 700 snowmachine and several rare shotguns.

Tickets for the dinner are $10 per person or $25 per family. All proceeds go toward helping the Ellison family with medical expenses. For more information or to donate an item for auction, call Kandi at 262-9885, Kelly at 262-3576 or Monica at 262-2559.

SPCA preparing for spay-neuter clinic

The Alaska SPCA Low-Cost Spay-Neuter Clinic is preparing for its annual summer trips to Sterling. With coupons, the fees will be $35 for female dogs, $25 for male dogs, $35 for male cats and $10 for male cats.
