Prom dress sale to benefit ski team

A prom dress consignment sale will be held Friday from 2 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at the Peninsula Center Mall in Soldotna. Anyone wishing to sell dresses should bring them by the mall Friday between noon and 7 p.m. Thirty percent of the sales will go to the Soldotna High School cross-country ski team. Racing meeting planned

The KPRL-Circle Track Division of Twin City Raceway will hold a general meeting Friday at 6 p.m. at the Riverside House in Soldotna. It is open to the public.

Cooper Landing festival set to go

The Cooper Landing Chamber of Commerce will hold its inaugural Cooper Landing Winter Festival Friday through Sunday in Cooper Landing. The festival will feature volleyball, pinochle, dart and softball tournaments, as well as music, dancing, food and games. For a schedule of events or more information, call (907) 595-8888.

Defensive driving class offered

An AARP 55 Alive defensive driving class will be offered from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday and from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday at the Kenai River Center on Funny River Road in Soldotna.

The class is certified by the state for dismissal of traffic citations or a two-point reduction in accumulated points. Anyone is welcome, regardless of age. The cost is $10 for materials. To register or for more information, call Vivian Swanson at 260-3966.

Service area board to meet

The Central Peninsula Hospital Service Area board will hold its monthly meeting March 10 at 5:30 p.m. in the Iliamna room at the hospital.

Steering committee meets next Thursday

The Healthy Communities-Healthy People steering committee will hold its monthly meeting at 1:30 p.m. March 13 at Bridges, 145 Kasilof St. in Soldotna. For more information, call Bridges at 260-3800.

Bridge work session planned

The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities will hold a work session on the Soldotna bridge project Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Soldotna Sports Center. Concept drawings, landscaping plans and other information will be available.

Charter school to hold enrollment lottery

The Montessori Charter School, a public school in the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District, will conduct an enrollment lottery March 29. Applications and copies of the enrollment and lottery procedures are available at the school from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

All applications must be hand-delivered to the school by 4 p.m. March 14. The lottery results will be posted at the school April 7. Orientation for anyone interested in learning more about the school will be held from 4 to 5 p.m. every Wednesday and Thursday from Feb. 19 through March 13. For more information, call 260-9221.
