Dinner fund-raiser set

The 25th annual AFS International Dinner will begin at 6 p.m. today at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church on Spruce Street in Kenai.

It will feature gourmet cuisine from all over the world. The cost is $15, and all proceeds support AFS students traveling to and from the Kenai Peninsula.

MS support group meeting slated

Multiple sclerosis support group will meet at noon Thursday in the Iliamna Room at Central Peninsula General Hospital. Participants are asked to bring a lunch. For more information, call Barb at 262-5030.

Parent organization to discuss gangs

Parents for a Safe Community will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the Soldotna High School teachers' lounge. The topic will be "Gangs, Bullying and Harassment." The Soldotna Police Department will lead the forum, which is sponsored by the SoHi PTSA. It is open to the public. For more information, call Elizabeth Dimick at 262-5095.

Relay for Life planning meeting set

Relay for Life will hold a planning meeting March 14 at Central Peninsula Hospital. For more information and time, call Lisa at 262-6656. Information also will be available at the Health Fair on March 12. Teams can register then or decorate a luminaria in honor or memory of someone.

The Relay for Life will be held June 3 and 4 at Skyview High School. It is a fund-raiser to help in the fight against cancer.

Family dog class offered

The Kenai Kennel Club will offer a basic obedience class for the family dog to teach them to sit, stay, come when called and walk on a leash without dragging the owner down the street.

In addition to the basics, students may teach their dog tricks and learn about other activities they can take part in with their pet.

Classes will be at 6 p.m. Fridays starting March 18. To sign up or find out more, call 335-2552.

Running club forming

The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Kenai Peninsula is forming a coed running club for children in third through fifth grade. It will be a combined running and education program.

It will run April 18 through June 11 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays. The cost is $30. Registration deadline is April 1. Participants must be current members. Registration fees area available at For more information, call 283-2682.
