Former Kenai resident Cheri Dawn Woods died Thursday, Feb. 24, 2011 in Reno, Nevada. She was 56.
A memorial service to celebrate Mrs. Wood's life will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2011 at 6 p.m. at Lakeridge Tennis Club in Reno. The family is asking guests to dress casually and bring a candle to light in her honor. For additional information contact Cheri's husband at 775-342-5329.
Mrs. Woods was born on June 16, 1954 to Raymond and Pamela (Voris) Curtis in Banning, Calif.
She married Michael Woods on July 13, 1986 in Soldotna.
Her family writes, "Cheri's mission in life was to help other people to help themselves. She worked for more than 25 years as an aerobics instructor, personal fitness trainer, and yoga instructor, but to those who knew her, she was so much more. To many people Cheri was their drill instructor, mental health counselor, and most of all their friend. The loss of this amazing person will be felt by many and mourned by all that knew her, especially her family."
Mrs. Woods is survived by her husband, Michael Woods; daughters, Charlotte LaDuke, Serena Woods-Grimm, and Marci Woods; and her only grandchild Sierra LaDuke.
