Soldotna and Spokane, Wash., resident, Diane (Dahlen) LeGrande died Monday, Feb. 28, 2011 in Spokane. She was 50.
A celebration of her life will be held in Alaska this summer.
Ms. LeGrande was born November 7,1960 in Minnesota. She moved to Alaska in 1981 and her mother and siblings all followed. Diane considered Alaska her home.
Ms. LeGrande loved Alaska for all the fishing and hunting she was able to do until she got sick with Multiple Sclerosis.
Her family writes, "Diane was a loving person who saw kindness in everyone. She was quick to laugh and love. To her mother, who was also her caregiver, she was everything a beloved daughter can be. To the rest of her family she was quick witted and fun to be around. She will be missed greatly but all who knew her, knows that she is running and stomping her feet in freedom."
Ms. LeGrande was preceded in death by her brother Donald Dahlen.
She is survived by her mother, Beth McLevish of Soldotna and Spokane; father, Harley Dahlen of Rio, Wis.; brother Daniel Dahlen and his wife of Kenai; brother David Dahlen of Soldotna; brother Dennis McLevish and his partner of Texas; brother Darrell McLevish and wife and their three children of Texas; sister Dawn McLevish and her three children of Idaho; sister Debbie McKenzie and husband and their three children of Idaho; brother Marty Dahlen of Wisconsin; brother Michael Dahlen of Wis.; and her brotherDonald's two surviving children.
