Kenzie Jean Chivers

Chivers welcome daughter

Derek and Emily Chivers, of Anchorage, announce the birth of their daughter, Kenzie Jean Chivers, at 5:36 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2011, at Alaska Regional Hospital, in Anchorage. She weighed 6 pounds 9.3 ounces. She is an eagerly anticipated first child. Her grandparents are Gayle Erickson, of Soldotna; and Clay Chivers, of Wyoming; and Pam and Larry "Spanky" Witte, of Kenai.

Sullenger family grows

Arnold Dwight and Elena Diaz Sullenger of Nikiski announce the birth of their son, Dwight Diaz Sullenger, at 9:29 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2010 at Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna. He was 8 pounds and measured 20 inches.

He joins brother Jack Joseph Diaz Sullenger. His grandparents are Margie Diaz and Arnold and Mary Sullenger.

Waters welcome son

Brian and Wendy Waters, of Soldotna, announce the adoption of their son, Easton Andrew, born Sept. 8, 2010, in Knoxville, Tenn. He weighed 6 pounds, 14 ounces, and measured 19 1/4 inches. He joins big brother Zack and big sister Shyanne. Easton's grandparents are Ralph Waters and Steve and Marcia Morgan; and his godmother is Melanie Lewis.

Kenai Community Library closed

The Kenai Community Library will be closed Monday, March 7, through Sunday, March 27, so staff can move books and furniture from the existing library into the library addition. Items currently checked out will not be due during the closure period. Items may be returned into the book drop during the closure. When the library re-opens Monday March 28, the public will use the new entrance located off Main Street Loop.

Vendors wanted for Soldotna Wednesday Market

The Wednesday Soldotna Creek Market is back! The market will run for 11 consecutive Wednesdays, June 1 through Aug. 10, 2011. Vendor spaces will cost from $15-$30 per Wednesday. Vendor spaces must be reserved in advance. Please call Rae at 262-2729 for more information and to reserve your space!

Church to host pancake supper

St. Francis by the Sea church will host a pancake supper on Tuesday, March 8 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the church at 110 South Spruce Street in Kenai. Proceeds will go to support the Methodist church food pantry. Cost is $10 per family or $3 per person.

Heart support group meets

The regular monthly meeting of the WomenHeart Cardiac Support group will be held Monday, March 7, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., at Central Peninsula Hospital in the Mt. Redoubt Room on the lower level. Speaking will be pharmacist Justin from the Soldotna Professional Pharmacy, speaking about cholesterol-lowering medications. This meeting is open to both men and women. We hope to see you there.
