A Nikiski resident died Wednesday morning after taking medication to treat pain from oral surgery.
Steven Wade, 30, of Nikiski, was discovered to be in cardiac arrest by Alaska State Troopers at his residence on Island Lake Road after a 911 call troopers say was made by a neighbor. Wade was nonresponsive when discovered and was transported to Central Peninsula General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after 8 a.m.
"It is believed that Wade had an adverse reaction to the medication he was taking for pain," said Greg Wilkinson, a trooper spokesperson.
No foul play is suspected at this time; troopers are continuing their investigation.
