Soroptimists to meet
Soroptimist International of Twin Cities will meet 5:30 p.m. today at Peninsula Steak House in Soldotna. Kathy Lopeman from Central Peninsula General Hospital -- Alternative Treatment Fund/SCF will be the guest speaker. A monthly business meeting will follow.
KCHS to present student-directed comedy
The Kenai Central High School drama department will present "Mixed Nuts," a comedy directed by KCHS student Lauren Brewer 7 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday in the Rene Henderson Auditorium in Kenai. Admission is free.
AARP holding driver safety program
The American Association for Retired Persons is sponsoring the driver safety program, "55 Alive," from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Kenai River Center.
Following completion of the course, participants will receive a certificate that can be used for auto insurance discounts. State law requires insurers to offer a discount to graduates aged 50 and older. For more information, call Vivian Swanson at 260-3966.
Soldotna Historical Society meeting planned
The Soldotna Historical Society will hold a board of directors meeting at 9 a.m. Saturday at River City Books. The public is invited to attend. For more information, call 262-4157.
Scholarship applications sought
The Kenai Borough Employees Association scholarship committee is currently accepting applications for three scholarships of $500 each. The scholarships are available to all 2002 graduates of Kenai Peninsula Borough schools, including home schoolers. Applications are available at any area high school counselor's office or at the Borough's Web site at: www.borough.kenai.ak.us.
Applications must be postmarked by March 29.
High schools looking for past graduates
Members of the Skyview High School graduating class of 1992 and the Soldotna High School class of 1982 are being sought for upcoming class reunions. Women's center seeks volunteers
The Women's Resource and Crisis Center is seeking volunteer court observers and volunteers to assist advocates and provide client services at LeeShore Emergency Shelter and the Transitional Living Center. Forum on proposed pork project planned
A public forum on the proposed "Pork Project" for the Kenai Peninsula will be at 7 p.m. March 21 in the borough assembly chambers in Soldotna. Members of the public are invited to attend this forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters to learn more about both sides of the project to raise 600,000 pigs a year on the Kenai.
