Historical society to meet

The Kenai Historical Society will meet at 1 p.m. today downstairs at the United Methodist Church of the New Covenant. Mike Navarre will be the featured speaker.

His topic will be the Conference of Alaskans, and he will trace his family's involvement in government and business in the area. The public is invited to attend.

KCHS after prom meeting planned

The Kenai Central High School after-prom committee will meet at 6 p.m. Monday in room 22A. Parents of juniors and seniors are encouraged to attend. For more information, call Colleen at 283-6007.

Fish and Game committee to meet

The Central Peninsula Fish and Game Advisory Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Monday at the Ninilchik School library. The topic will be the Board of Fish proposals for Cook Inlet. For more information, call David Martin at (907) 567-3306.

PFLAG to meet

The Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday. For more information and location, call 283-4678.

Skyview bands to hold concert

The Skyview High School Band and Jazz Band will hold a concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the school's commons. Kent Peterson will be the conductor. The concert, titled "Music and Civil Rights," will feature music inspired by the Trail of Tears, Rosa Parks and the music of Dmitri Shostakovich, the Russian composer under Joseph Stalin. There is no fee. It is open to the public.

Writers' Night dinner theater planned

The seventh annual Central Peninsula Writers' Night will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Kenai Senior Citizens Center. The event will be in a dinner theater format, with dinner at 6 p.m. and the readings at 7:30 p.m. Tickets must be purchased in advance and are available at Charlotte's and the senior center in Kenai and River City Books in Soldotna. The cost for the entire event is $20 or $10 to attend just the readings. Sixty-four entries from 25 area authors were submitted and 20 pieces by 14 writers will be presented.

Scorekeepers clinic slated

There will be a baseball-softball scorekeepers clinic from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. April 5 at the Soldotna Little League office on Lovers Lane above Alaska Great Skate. For more information, call John Saylor at 283-5680 or Jerry Holmgaard at 260-6650.
