Homer girls sweep Kodiak series

The host Homer girls completed a weekend sweep of Kodiak Saturday, notching a 52-32 nonconference victory.

Chantrelle Cousins had 21 points for Homer, while Channing Setterquist added 11 points. Molly Cassidy had 11 points for Homer, while Alison Horn added 10 points.

The Homer boys wrapped up their regular-season schedule with a nonregion loss at Kodiak Saturday.

Steve Golson scored 14 while Luke Gilbert and Charlie Trowbridge each scored 10 for the Mariners.

Erich Simpson led the Bears with 17 points.

Zach Keplinger had 18 points to lead four Kodiak players in double figures Friday as the Bears picked up a Region III/4A victory in Kodiak.

Luke Gilbert had 15 points for Homer, while Jamey Smith added 13. Homer finished 1-9 in Region III/4A.

The Mariners finished up their Region III/4A schedule with a 7-3 record by topping the Bears Friday in Homer. The game was tied at halftime, but Homer outscored Kodiak 22-10 in the second half.

Bailey Lowney had 12 points to lead Homer, while Chantrelle Cousins added 10 points. Molly Cassidy paced Kodiak with 17 points.

Nenana's Kim Rychenovsky had 26 points Friday as the Lynx picked up a nonconference victory in Nikolaevsk.

Nikki Melkomukov had 22 points to pace the Warriors, while LeKonida Yakunin added 14 points.

Nikolaevsk boys 70, Nenana 45

The Warriors put four players in double figures Friday to pick up a nonconference victory over the Lynx.

Anecta Kalugin led Nikolaevsk with 22 points, while Peter Tipikin had 16 points, Jake Bailey had 15 points and Danny Kuzmin had 13 points.

Kalugin had 14 of his points in the first half.
