Peterson wins at Tsalteshi

Skyview High School ski coach Kent Peterson won a race at the Tsalteshi Race Series on Tuesday at Tsalteshi Trails, which are located behind Skyview High School.

Peterson won with a time of 17 minutes, 21 seconds, while Tommy Honer was second at 17:52, Lars Arneson was third at 17:55 and Tom Seggerman was fourth at 21:30.

Peterson was coming off of a 22nd-place finish in Sunday's Tour of Anchorage 50-kilometer freestyle event. Peterson had a time of 2:27:33. Arneson won the men's 40-kilometer freestyle with a time of 1:43:54, while Honer was second at 1:43:59.

Hakkinen takes 59th in World Cup sprint

Kasilof biathlete Jay Hakkinen finished 59th in a World Cup 10-kilometer sprint on Thursday in Khanty Mansiysk, Russia. Hakkinen had three penalties on the shooting range and finished 2 minutes, 47.1 seconds, behind the winner. He also qualified for Saturday's 12.5-kilometer pursuit.
