Historical society to meet

The Kasilof Historical Society will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday in the McLane Center. The topic will be an update of its ongoing projects and upcoming schedule. It is open to the public. For more information, call 262-2439.

Bee keepers buzzing

Bee Keeper’s Educational Exchange on the Peninsula (B-KEEP) will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday at Soldotna Middle School. Herb Putney, Alaska’s representative for the American Federation of Beekeepers, will be the featured speaker. It is open to the public. Finalization of package bee ordering is planned. Ruffner to discuss kayak adventure

Area kayaker Robert Ruffner will give a presentation on his trip from Nellie Juan Lake to Prince William Sound at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Kenai River Center at Mile 1.6 Funny River Road. There is no fee. Refreshments will be served. For more information, call 260-4882.

Skyview to host parent night

Skyview High School will host eighth-grade parent night at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the library. Parents of incoming 2006-07 freshmen are encouraged to attend. The topics will be curriculum, programs, policies, procedures, activities and athletics that the school has to offer. School counselors will pass out preregistration information to eighth-graders planning to attend Skyview next year. Students attending schools other than SMS are asked to stop by the high school to pick up a packet. For more information, call 262-7675.

First aid classes available

The American Red Cross of Alaska will hold First Aid, AED and adult, infant and child CPR classes from 6 to 10 p.m. March 15 and 16 at its office at 503 Frontage Road.
