Store, manager go above and beyond

Educating our children well requires the efforts of many. In an age of increasing budgetary constraints, educators must work smarter to do more with less. Schools must partner with community businesses and groups in order to ensure that their students have what they need.

It is in that regard that Redoubt PTA must extend our sincerest and deepest thanks to the Soldotna Safeway store and especially, store manager Mick Galic. Mr. Galic has been a tireless supporter of our school district and Redoubt, in particular, providing donations of merchandise for everything from testing days to Holiday Kindness efforts. Mr. Galic brings a much needed business perspective to the challenges our schools face and the many successes we celebrate.

The Soldotna Safeway store has been a great participant in and supporter of the eScrip program, through which our organization has been able to raise funds to benefit the school. Because of the huge success of that program, the Redoubt PTA has been able to purchase new music stands, new library books, assist with the science fair expenses and donate to the scholarship fund.

The store and Mr. Galic have been, and continue to be, a valuable asset to our school, and we appreciate their community mindedness and efforts on behalf of our children. We are grateful for their support and generosity toward our school.
