Carly Davis wins in Hayward

Soldotna's Carly Davis won the final in the Pro Am Women Super Stock at the Hayward National in Hayward, Wis., on Saturday and Sunday. With the victory, Davis kept her Pro Am Women Super Stock points lead in the AMSOIL Championship Snocross Series.

Davis won the first heat and finished second in the second heat. She leads the series with 131 points, while Jennifer Pare is second with 126 points.

Reimers lead area in Tour's 50K

Adam and Carly Reimer led area finishers at the Tour of Anchorage's 50-kilometer event on Sunday in Anchorage.

Adam finished the race in 2 hours, 29 minutes, 53 seconds, to take 12th place, while Carly finished in 3 hours, 18 minutes and 31 seconds to take 21st place. The event had almost 1,500 skiers. All the Kenai Peninsula finishers follow:

Junior Olympics start in Minneapolis

The Junior Olympics, featuring the nation's top young skiers, started Monday in Minneapolis with freestyle sprint races.

Skiers from the Kenai Peninsula are Kenai Central graduate Kailey Mucha and Soldotna High School's Bree Mucha. Kailey was eliminated in the quarterfinals of the girls Older Junior competition. Bree did not make the Junior 1 quarterfinals.

Brackets announced for state basketball

The Alaska Schools Activities Association has announced the brackets for the state basketball tournament.

The Class 1A and Class 2A tournaments will be held Monday to March 16. The Cook Inlet Academy girls play Monday at 5 p.m. at Sullivan Arena against Togiak, while the Seldovia girls play Monday at 9:45 a.m. at Sullivan Arena against Yakutat.

The Class 3A and Class 4A tournaments will be March 17 to 19. The Soldotna girls open play at the Class 4A tournament on March 17 against Colony at 5 p.m. at Sullivan Arena. The Stars finished third in the Northern Lights Conference tournament, while the Knights won the tournament.

The Seward girls open play in the Class 3A tournament on March 17 against Craig at 11:30 a.m. at Sullivan Arena. The Seward boys play Sitka at 8 a.m. Thursday at Sullivan Arena.
